History on wood

I began painting these while in Ecuador by the beach. I had become fascinated with pthalo blue and cadmium red and I wanted to tell the story of the indigenous people of the coast of Ecuador. I found several pieces of driftwood while beach combing and decided to pain on this extremely vertical format. The illustrations read from left to right, top to bottom like a picture book or an ancient temple carving. The figures are simple, the shapes flat. The colors are limited to black, white and one color. When things are simplified they are also clarified.
