Rabbits are sculptural and seductive while, at the same time, being prey, evoking innocence and fragility.

To visualize their vulnerability, I started by cutting rabbits and abstract forms out of Masonite and covering them with hand-woven fabric, digitally manipulated patterns, and metallic paint. Because they are cut from the same cloth, each rabbit is fooled into thinking its shape is a mirror. This is the moment before the fear of the reflection intensifies, growingly unbearable. This is the moment before the rabbit runs.
Tension continues through the choice of materials. Hand-drawn images are collaged in Photoshop, sitting uneasily between human creation and machine precision. The digital element is counterbalanced by weaving, which itself adds a sensitivity to the fabric, an organic, tactile presence.
