Sleeping on the Wind

Sleeping on the Wind is a collection of intimate, observational colored pencil drawings on paper that explore memory.

Where does memory come from and who does it belong to?

In this body of work, I draw from my own memories, using personal photographs as references, filtering and distilling these private moments into a cohesive series. My practice up until now has been largely figurative, often filling silhouettes with dreamlike landscapes, objects, and elements—existing in the space between memory, reality, and imagination. With this project, I plan to create dozens of these 6 × 10-inch drawings, produce single reproductions, and sew them into an enormous quilt. I’d like to explore how memories relate to each other within the larger scope of one’s life. Are they reliable? Do they tell the full story? Who are we without them?
