In this body of work, I’m drawn to the quiet moments when people turn inward—when thoughts surface, and self-awareness becomes visible.
The figures I paint are often lost in contemplation. Sometimes, their reflections appear in water or glass, adding a second layer: not just thinking, but also being seen—by themselves, or perhaps by us. That dual meaning of reflection—as introspection and mirrored image—is at the heart of these paintings.
Some works also explore the tension between individuals, where two figures may seem to avoid one another, caught in their own reflections. They are either too absorbed in their inner world or avoiding confrontation, unable to truly meet. This sense of distance—both physical and emotional—adds a layer of complexity to the act of reflection, suggesting that sometimes we are not just reflecting
